wilma2 nick

When their family was evicted from their home, they simply left their dogs in the house. And there Wilma and Nick sat until animal control found them and took them to a North Carolina shelter.

nick2Then they sat in a shelter with obvious medical needs, skin and fur issues, with no one there to save them. At least not until Merit Pit Bull Foundation came to the rescue! Merit Pit Bull Foundation took them in for veterinary care to find out what their skin issues involved, and it turns out Wilma had a food allergy. Nick has a laundry list of ailments, many of which are currently being resolved. Here are just a few:

  • Heartworms
  • Double ear infection
  • Double eye infection (may require surgery)
  • Foot infection
  • Severe flea dermatitis (will require 2 medicated baths a week)wilma1

The Tortorella Foundation wanted to help and donated to each Wilma and Nick’s medical care.
