(born June 24, 1958 in BostonMassachusetts) has been an American professional ice hockey coach in National Hockey League (NHL) has coached for (most recently) the Vancouver Canucks, the New York Rangers, and is perhaps best known for his tenure as head coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning, where he led the team to the 2004 Stanley Cup. John also has the distinction of being the winningest American-born coach in NHL history.

He was also selected to be part of the USA Olympic Hockey coaching staff in Vancouver in 2010 when they won a Silver Medal.

In his down time, John enjoys his family including his two children and his dogs. John spends a lot of time working with rescues to help save and/or improve the lives of animals.
