THE NEXT STEP is a program started by the Tortorella Family Foundation to help coordinate efforts in order to better help shelter animals to prepare for their forever homes. Some animals just don’t “show” well in shelters. Others need training. Some just need more love and attention. And even still some need separation and normalcy, and a place to call their own. The Tortorellas wanted to take The Next Step in helping this underserved population of dogs — whether they are owner surrendered, strays, abandoned or abused.
Independently the Tortorellas have supported several programs that target this population of dogs. The Foundation believes it can do more good with more help and matching funds for these programs.
Here are a few programs The Tortorella Foundation’s NEXT STEP program has helped. The Tortorellas plan to continue their support for programs like these — The Way Home (SPCA of Westchester), Pets Alive Middletown (Sanctuary), SURULUNA and Bear’s Angels.
