I LOVE LUCY!
How could you not adore this sweet-faced, boxer-pit mix? Lucy was found living in deplorable conditions with a fever and multiple wounds from being chained. Thankfully, she was rescued by Scioto Area Humane Society of Ohio and taken to a veterinarian. Lucy has given birth to a few litters and needs to be spayed. She is about 3 years-old and is staying with a foster. Lucy is great with kids of all ages but doesn’t understand how to behave with other dogs, so it would be best if she was the only dog in the house. If you are interested in meeting this love-bug and giving her story a happy ending, please call Linda Kennedy Patrick with the Scioto Humane Society at 740-352-3339.
Golfers and animal lovers gathered at The Golf Club at Little Turtle on a sunny day this summer to raise money for Homeless to Home Animal Rescue and Cat Sanctuary. The August 19th event, “Play Fore Paws” was sponsored by Anthony Rothman of 97.1 The Fan and Jamie McGann of McGann Media Group. Among those who took advantage of the beautiful weather and a chance to help a deserving local charity were Columbus Blue Jacket’s Coach John Tortorella and General Manager
Proceeds from the event and auction were donated to the Marion, Ohio rescue organization which works tirelessly to provide shelter and proper care to homeless animals turned away by shelters or surrendered by owners. To learn more about their mission, visit Homeless to Home.
The Tortorella Family Foundation was pleased to present grants this spring to deserving animal welfare organizations who make a difference in their communities. Among the grantees was The SPCA of Westchester who was awarded a grant for their The Way Home Program, a partnership with the Tortorella’s that provides training, enrichment and TLC for dogs with behavioral challenges in order to improve their chances of being adopted. In 2018, 134 dogs enrolled in this program found their forever homes, including the dogs featured here. These sturdy, well-built homes will serve to keep canines warm in the frosty winter months and provide a safe haven throughout the year.
